About Us

New Hope Baptist Church has been at the “mountain top” of prosperity, and in the valley of despair. However, through it all God has truly been good to us. Through His deliverance and by His grace, we have stayed together as a body of “Baptized Believers”.

In the beginning

Our vision and mission is to help connect people to faith

In 1925 a few visionaries with limited resources felt led by the Spirit of God to begin meeting for worship. Six years went by and in 1931 this faithful group felt to have a two week revival service. Before the two week revival was over, on the afternoon of the third Sunday in June the evangelist, Reverend M. C. Montgomery called a council of the Lee Street Baptist Church Pastor & Deacons to assist with organizing what was soon to become the New Hope Baptist Church.

Throughout the years we are still growing in knowledge of our Lord through strong and consistent leadership through the Word of God. One of the ways we have grown is through becoming a “mission-minded” Church. We share resources through love and generosity throughout the community, across the state and nation and throughout the world.

Our present Pastor, Reverend Dr. William J. Reid was called to be our Pastor on the second Sunday in December, 1991. Through his prayerful leadership, God has strengthened our ministries in many ways.

Today we are proud affiliates with:

1. Schaeffer Memorial District Association of SW Virginia

2. Baptist General Convention of Virginia

3. Lott-Carey Foreign Missions

“It matters not how dark the night if they always believe in the coming of the morning.”

Psalms 30:5

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
